ICC Colour Profiles
Provided that you use your manufacturers' paper and inks the likelihood is that you will achieve reasonably accurate colour output from your printer, but because the manufacturer has to build in certain tolerances your prints are going to be on the safe side of what the printer could produce. Your paper options would also be limited to those of the manufacturer, which are almost certainly inflated in price and deny the opportunity to use the full variety and possibly better products available.
In order to achieve accurate colour from your ink-jet printer on our paper we offer advice and help on three levels.
1. Printer settings In many cases by selecting the nearest equivalent media, or paper option, you can achieve just as good a print result, if not better, than that offered by the manufacturers paper.
For example, when printing Pinnacle Lustre 300gsm on an Epson R2400 printer select “Ultra Premium Photo Paper Lustre” as your paper option for a superb print result, which should at least match, or even better the result from Epson branded products. You benefit from a healthy price saving and a wider range of sizes and pack quantities.
Our suggested print settings are available for each product in the product description.
2.Generic Profiles Generic profiles are designed to offer good accurate colour reproduction on our papers and will generally improve upon the quality offered by the manufacturers’ printer settings alone, but because of the manufactures manufacturing tolerances there will be small differences between machines, even of the same model. Therefore the profile is unlikely to fully maximise the colour potential of your printer. To do this you would need a bespoke custom profile.

The number and variety of generic profiles we offer is in a constant process of renewal as new models become available and because of the huge variety we may not have generic profiles for your particular printer, in which case we can offer you a custom profile.
3. Remote Bespoke Custom Profiles Bespoke custom profiles are profiles which are specific to your printer, its inks and a particular paper. They are designed to fully maximise the colour potential of your printer by offering better colour accuracy and maximising the colour gamut so that you get the best from your printer, paper and ink combination. A separate profile would be needed for each paper you are using.
Procedure (a) We email you a file containing colour test charts, which you will need to print, along with step by step instructions on how to turn off the colour management correctly. This is important in order to get accurately printed charts. If you have any doubts please contact us. (b) Send the printed charts back to us. (c) We then scan the charts with our spectrophotometer and create a custom profile. This will be emailed back to you for installation in a file of approx 1mb. From the point when we receive your printed charts we will generally send the completed profile within 24 hours.
